Here’s the thing… if you don’t have an email list, you might as well be throwing your online business away.
This may sound a bit extreme but hear me out.
An email list is a secret sauce to growing your business online.
If you do your research, you’ll discover that most successful bloggers and website owners have built a thriving email list over the years and that’s how they’re able to maintain the level of success that you see.
The reason why marketers spend a lot of time and effort on growing their email lists is that it works!
It is a strategy that has proven to be more effective than other digital marketing strategies like social media marketing.
Let’s take an example.
You have 1000 followers on Facebook but you notice that every time you post something, you only get like 20 likes. Why’s that?
The shocking truth is that a good number of your followers will probably never see your post.
In fact, in some cases, you’ll find that less than 2% of your followers actually engage with your post.
Now, let’s take a look at email marketing
You’ve sent out a newsletter to your email subscribers promoting a new product and you find that your results are astounding.
Based on your analytics, a good percentage of your subscribers have read the email and a good number has taken action.
A research done by Statista in 2019 revealed that 82% of workers check email outside of normal business hours.
This is HUGE for email marketers because it means that email has officially defeated the barrier of time.
You can send marketing emails at various times of the day, and your subscribers will still engage with it and some will even take action.
Today, I want to talk about how you can grow your email list… fast.
If I’m being honest, it’s not easy to grow your email list. Like anything else in life worth having, it takes a lot of hard work, time and an extra dose of patience.
However, here at Digispotkenya, we have come up with some 4 tips to help you grow your email list in an unprecedented amount of time.
In this post, I will share these tips with you and I hope they will help you out.
Tip #1: Get a Reputable Email Marketing Provider
An email service provider is the home of your email marketing.
It’s where everything email marketing related starts. So, you need to be careful when choosing one for your business.
These days, we have so many email marketing providers in the market that it can be hard to determine which is the right fit for your business.
Here are the things you need to consider when choosing an email service provider or ESP
- Features- This includes things like templates, automation, landing pages, scheduling and much more
- Budget- Different ESPs have different price ranges. It is advisable to select a provider that offers a variety of payment plans so you can choose one that best fits you at the moment.
- Customer support- You should be able to contact your ESP 24/7 to ask for support. If something goes wrong, you’re assured of quick assistance.
They are currently the top ESPs in the market and they have amazing features that will help you get started with email marketing.
Tip#2: Create a Lead Magnet or Freebie
Most bloggers would recommend creating something cool and offering it for free to whoever joins your email list… I completely agree.
These days, a simple opt-in form saying ‘Join Our Newsletter Today’ just doesn’t cut it anymore. You have to go a step further if you want to see any results.
This means offering an incentive that will entice people to subscribe to your email list.
A common misconception people have is that a lead magnet must be a 30 page eBook, otherwise, it’s completely useless. This is completely false.
A lead magnet is basically anything of value that you can offer for free to people in exchange for their emails.
This could be a simple one-page checklist, a workbook, a course etc.
However, you need to remember that no matter how simple your freebie is, it needs to be packed with value.
When creating a lead magnet, you need to ensure that it’s relevant to your audience.
For example, if you have a blog about ‘How to make money online’, you will not create a lead magnet about ‘DIY interior design’
This freebie will be completely useless to your audience because they’re not interested in the subject.
Tip #3: Have a Landing Page
FAQ: What is a landing page?
A landing page is a standalone page that your audience is directed to which serves a single purpose. In our case, it is to deliver the freebie you created.
A landing page is a great way to generate leads for your email marketing strategy. It directs your audience to a specific product encouraging them to take action.
Your landing page should:
- Be free of distraction
- Contain a specific offer
- Have a friendly language
- Speak to a specific audience
- Have a Thank You
Most email marketing providers offer landing pages so you don’t have to look for a solution that will cost you more.
Tip #4: Call To Action
At the end of each blog post, you should have a call to action that makes it clear to your audience what action you want them to take next.
The CTA could be to sign up for your mailing list so they receive the freebie. Remember, a visitor to your blog won’t always know what to do next so it’s really up to you to give them a little push.
The truth is that you shouldn’t expect to grow your email list in one day.
It’s a process that could take months of trial and error. However, you shouldn’t give up because it will be of great value to your business.
